Introducing the new committee of the Island Bay Residents Association
Kia Ora Island Bay and Southgate,
Many thanks to all of you who engaged in the recent AGM and the election of your IBRA committee.
Firstly I would like to acknowledge the previous committee for their work over the last 18 months, we hope to continue that progress. And to those who stood for nomination but did not make it on to the committee. A fabulous indication of the number in our community who want to contribute, we hope to harness this willingness to be involved.
Now to introduce the new committee;
Officer roles have been agreed upon between the committee, no voting/election was required.
I, Sheila Hart, will chair the committee until the next AGM in October (and hopefully beyond, but that will be up to you!!). I will be working very closely with Bruce Gadd, immediate past chair so that we can make the most of my fresh enthusiasm and Bruce’s experience, realism, and connections in the community.
The secretary role will be covered by Sonya Cameron, Sally Page, Catherine Inder, and Francesca De Gregorio. This is to share the workload, which we have a bit to get through in the next 6 months. It is a testament to Jane’s hard work (former secretary) that we now have a group taking on that role!
Jelle Keizer will take on the role of treasurer.
All of these roles will be ably supported by the remaining committee members:
Ben Everist
Ruby Ghanem
Mark Henderwood Jeff McDonald
Pat Vinaccia
Chris Wratt
Our first meeting will be on Monday 4th April at St Hilda’s church 7-9pm. The agenda for this meeting will be posted on our website in advance of the meeting.
Acknowledging that the committee is new, the first hour of the meeting will be in committee, this is mainly so we can confirm roles and responsibilities in the committee and decide how we will manage open meetings. The second hour will be open. And, as per the community’s wish, future monthly meetings will be open for anyone to attend.
The open component will be 8-9pm.
If you are attending and have a specific question you want to ask it would be great if you could email it in advance to Islandbayres@gmail.com.
I look forward to working with the community of Island Bay and Southgate.
If you have any questions or queries please do get in touch
Cheers
Sheila
