Wellington City Council Urban Design team would like to thank you for your participation at the community drop-in session at the Island Bay Community Centre 9 April 2022.
Over the last month our team has been collating and understanding the greater values of Island Bay neighbourhood and concerns of the public space for the main shopping area.
During this time we have established a working group of representatives from the business community, Island Bay Residents Association, and community groups.
At the first two workshops ( 27 April + 9 May), the group synthesised and expanded on the vision for Island Bay Village, wherein we organised and prioritised the design objectives for the upgrades concept. We are currently in the pre-design phase.

There will be one more working group meeting in June.
Beginning this week and into the next, we will be conducting an on-site 5 question survey that will help capture any additional comments and suggestions- you may see our team or fellow volunteers out and about in the main shopping area.
This public information will contribute to the working group’s discussions and the urban design concept. We expect a concept plan mid-year.
