Animal Bylaw, Dog Policy and Domestic Animal Policy Review

HAVE YOUR SAY – WCC proposal for review until 18th October

There is a proposal relevant for our suburb, changes to access on Island Bay beach. In addition, there is a proposal to introduce the requirement for dog owners to carry a means of cleaning up their dog’s poo!

The current policies and bylaws were last reviewed in 2016/17. Since then, there has been a noticeable increase in animal ownership within Wellington City (Wellington).

Make an online submission at – https://www.letstalk.wellington.govt.nz/hub-page/animal-review

Email your submission to – policy.submission@wcc.govt.nz

Complete the submission form and return it to Wellington City Council.

Provide an oral submission. Information on the hearings process and what to expect can be found at wellington.govt.nz/your-council/ meetings/speaking-at-meetings

You can get physical copies of the submission form at the Arapaki Service Centre and Council libraries.

If you need more copies, please email policy.submission@wellington.govt.nz or phone the Council on 04 499 4444.

MEVO – news and statistics post-launch of the Island Bay Zone

MEVO had >50 members that had taken at least one trip from the new zone.
They are also seeing some commuter-type travel patterns (i.e. picking up a Mevo in Island Bay and one-way to the CBD and vice versa in the evening)

There was also a good amount of promo code redemption for ISLANDBAYRES (free $35 credit). This has been extended the last day of redemption to 30th September, sign up here: https://join.mevo.co.nz/register/preamble?promo_code=ISLANDBAYRES

Did you know there is  Mevo for Business?

This helps Small and Medium Businesses reach their sustainability goals and save on travel costs. There are a lot of cafes and independent contractors using it at moment.

It’s free to join and new organisations that join can receive a $100 welcome credit when they become approved this month (AUGUST).
