A brief update from Brad regarding The Parade upgrade (road aspect):
Resurfacing has been completed for The Parade south of the town centre (between Reef Street and approximately 110m south of Medway Street).
This work was carried out and completed on the week of 18 April 2022.
Installation of the safety improvements on The Parade, south of the town centre, started on 19 April 2022 and we aim to be completed by 27 May 2022.
Installation of the safety improvements for The Parade north of the town centre (between Dee Street and Avon Street) is scheduled to begin on 30 May 2022, and to be completed by 1 July 2022.
Council Officers have been getting in touch and coordinating with various businesses, residents, and organisations along The Parade to work through their specific transport and parking needs, identifying how the Council can best cater to their requirements.
A number of these requests are currently being developed with the community and where applicable, these improvements will be made accordingly.
My team and I met with some of the businesses and organisations on 30th March to discuss some of their concerns and to work through these to come up with some options
We are arranging to be back on the Parade later this week (Thursday I think) to present some of the options we have developed, to give an update to others where we are still working through options and to try and speak to those we haven’t yet had a chance to talk to.
