Proposed shared-use trail | Martin Luckie Park to Island Bay

Wellington City Council is proposing a new shared-use trail connecting Martin Luckie Park to Island Bay.

From WCC:

The trail will provide a safe, off-road route for walking and cycling between Berhampore and Island Bay, passing through the eastern side of Berhampore Golf Course. It will improve access to key destinations including Wakefield Park, South Wellington Intermediate School, Wellington Zoo, and surrounding communities.

This project is part of the Wellington Town Belt trail network and is supported by international funding through the Bloomberg Initiative for Cycling Infrastructure (BICI). Wellington was one of 10 global cities selected to deliver safer and more connected cycling infrastructure.

We’re proposing to build a 1.5 metre sealed track (with potential to widen to 2 metres if further funding becomes available), extending from Lavaud Street to Dover Street and linking into the wider network.
